Near-Fatal Accident on 30 Rock Set

November 21, 2008

Filming of Tina Fey's sitcom 30 Rock came to a screeching halt on Wednesday after a near-fatal accident.

An out-of-control taxi crashed onto the Queens, NY set of the NBC comedy, nearly killing a 9-year-old boy.

The New York Post reports that Tina, who was playing the victim of a child mugger, was believed to be on set when the boy was forced to dive out of the way.

"Everyone was waiting to film when this cab came out of nowhere," an extra told the paper. "The street was very narrow and there was nowhere for anyone to run, so we all just stood and watched in disbelief as it hurtled down the street and smashed into another car."

A spokesperson for the show — which has had a string of celeb guest stars on this season, including Oprah, Jennifer Aniston and very soon Salma Hayek — confirmed the accident. "Some actors were grazed by one of the cars involved," said the rep. "They were examined at a local hospital and released."
