Bea Arthur Dies of Cancer
Golden Girls star Beatrice Arthur died peacefully in her Los Angeles home with her family by her side on the morning of April 25 at the age of 86. The cause was cancer.
Bea will be remembered for her work on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof and Mame; the groundbreaking ’70s TV series Maude; and her hilarious, dry-humored character, Dorothy, in the iconic ’80s sitcom The Golden Girls.
“Bea was such an important part of a very happy time in my life, and I have dearly loved her for a very long time. How lucky I was to know her,” says Bea’s Golden Girls costar Betty White.
