Steve Irwin's Daughter Gets Clothing Line

August 14, 2007

Only eight years old, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi, is already getting a shot at her own fashion line. The young wilderness girl will soon debut her children's clothing line, Bindi Wear International.

"My Daddy was working to change the world, so everyone would love wildlife like he did. Now it is our turn to help," she told Women's Wear Daily, admitting that 100 percent of proceeds will go towards supporting Australia's conservation programs.

Irwin family friend Palmina DiStasi has been designing the line exclusively for the Australia Zoo for the past seven years, but now that the line is going international, she promises to make the collection more fashion forward.

"Since the clothes were only sold at the zoo, the clothes were quite touristy," says DiStasi. "It's nice that now we can do a bit more with the line and since Bindi is older, she's done so much for it. We've even taken her own artwork and incorporated it into the designs, and she always tells us what she wants and doesn't want in the collection."
