Brad Pitt Donates Big Bucks to Fight Gay Marriage Ban

September 18, 2008

Does this mean he wants to marry Angelina Jolie?

Two years after saying that he and Angelina would "consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to the campaign to defeat Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative -- up for vote on Nov. 4 -- that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

"Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Brad said in a statement.

Right now, only California and Massachusetts recognize same-sex marriage.

This has been a busy week for the father of six and his longtime love, who days ago donated $2 million to build a center in Ethiopia for children affected by the HIV/AIDS and establish a program to treat TB in children and adults. The center will be named after their daughter Zahara, who hails from that nation.

how can people have any respect for these two fakes? they are so self serving and have the eyes and hearts of these naive fans that its really so sad and probably something that these two laugh daily about. I use to like both of these actors and now I can't stand them and wonder what the draw was in the first place. I use to want to read about them and when Shiloh was born, I couldn't wait to see what she looked like, now I feel so sick of them, and to use the media and the people to sway the public to do what they do? To shadow them? (i.e. the obama stunt Brad is pulling and now this?) Celebs have no business involving themselves in politics they have a personal right but when they use their fame to gather the votes of people who are unable to think on their own or make a decision based on what the celebs do? Get the hell out of here, go back to France, give up your rights here and become a citizen of a country that already allows this, Spain is a good choice, and you can adopt as many kids there you want.

Obviously not raised with christian values. Does he have an original value. He appears to be "Jolie Clone". On the day of judgment, who will be accountable to God.

You know, even if this is just a fame-booster, at least the money is going to a good cause. At least they are using their money for good, and probably teaching their children to give to others when you have a lot. I'm not gay or anything, but I do agree with what Brad said, it's no one's business except those involved. And for the people who say gay-marriage is wrong, bi/homosexuals are people too, they were born the way they are, and deserve the same rights that heterosexuals have. And for the people that say that it is religiously wrong to be gay: here's some food for thought. If God loves all people, he loves gay people too, because he created them that way. (If you believe in that kind of stuff)
I'm not a crazy religious person or anything, I just believe that gays, bis and heteros should have the same rights, and whoever has anything to say otherwise should think how they would feel if they could not marry the person they love just because someone else said no. Like Jen said a few pages back, love is love, and every human being gets to experience it.

I am not a fan of gay marriage but do love Brad and Angie and want to see them get married. They are a wonderful couple, actors and parents.

Any good effort to help the world in which we all share should be supported, not criticized.

Congratulations to a man who is secure enough with his sexuality that he's able to contribute to this cause. This country was founded partially on FREEDOM of religion; meaning that there should be tolerance for those who embrace beliefs that may be different from our own. Constitutions are meant to extend freedom to individual human beings ... not to limit libert.

And people wonder why this country is going down the drain--take a look around. This country was founded on christianity and the people have turned it into to sodom and gomorrah---this country will be destroyed just as that city was.Read revelations-it is coming fastly upon us.

tsk, tsk Brad! Thats wrong on so many levels. Why couldn't he donate to a worthy cause? Lets say to some random American community youth center or help people that are in the shelters.
