Jane Kaczmarek: My Girlfriends Are Supporting Me Through Divorce
Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford filed for divorce on Friday, initiating the end of their 16-year marriage. In a new interview, the actress issued a "big no comment" when asked about her relationship, but instead talked about how she's relying on her friends for support during the transitional period.
The 53-year-old star of TNT's Raising the Bar -- and previously Malcolm in the Middle -- tells More magazine that she's now able to feel "safe and vulnerable" rather than thinking she's "capable of doing everything" all on her own. And she has no problem calling her girlfriends and asking, "Could you meet me tomorrow for coffee? I'm in a really bad place."
"It gives you such sustenance and courage to face whatever the day's going to present to you," she tells the mag in their September issue. Before the ordeal, she thought, "As long as I had some fabulous boy on my arm, or man, and my career was sailing, that's all I needed."
The actress has since had a change of heart, and now understands "how important, how healthy and how necessary good supportive girlfriends are. To talk about kids, to talk about marriages, to talk about just life."
West Wing vet Bradley, 49, has yet to speak publicly about the divorce, but his rep released this statement: "He hopes the media will respect their wish for privacy as they focus on their children."
The couple has three children together: Frances, 12, George, 9, and Mary, 6.

Marriage today is such a waste of time & money...instead of "til death do us part" it's more like "til I find someone else." So sad!
