On her way into the taping of Idol Gives Back, Carrie Underwood told Extra that reports of her breakup from Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford had been greatly exaggerated. The two, who apparently weren't seriously dating, actually ended their brief romance two months ago. And the topper? The breakup took place via text message.

"It was completely mutual," the singer said. "We're both fine. We broke up over text, so it's like 'peace out.' It just didn't work... And we both knew it didn't work and no hard feelings at all whatsoever."

Could Carrie and Chace's text message breakup be the 2008 version of Sylvester Stallone's 1995 "fax-breakup" with Angie Everhart? And we mustn't forget the infamous Sex and the City Post-It note breakup. Two now-legendary showbiz splits.
