Cate Blanchett on Marriage, More Kids & Plastic Surgery

December 29, 2008

Expect to see wrinkles in Cate Blanchett's forehead, okay?

Brad Pitt's Curious Case of Benjamin costar tackles the hot topic of plastic surgery in a new interview and also talks about how her quickie engagement to Andrew Upton blossomed into a marriage that has lasted more than 11 years.

"I haven't done anything, but who knows," the actress says to Vanity Fair about going under the knife. "Andrew said he'd divorce me if I did anything. When you've had children, your body changes; there's history to it. I like the evolution of that history; I'm fortunate to be with somebody who likes the evolution of that history."

As for children, the mom of three — Dashiell, 7, Roman, 4, and Ignatius, who turns 1 in April — says she won't rule out having more.

"Who knows?" she tells the mag. "Don't close those doors. The world is very overpopulated, but we do make nice ones."

The actress also reveals that she accepted a proposal from her Australian playwright, screenwriter, and director hubby just weeks after they started dating.

"We were in exactly the same place at exactly the same time," she says to the magazine about saying yes. "He turned to me after a few days and said, 'Cate...,' and I thought, Oh, god, he's going to ask me to marry him — and I'm going to have to say yes! He didn't, in fact; he asked me what I wanted for dinner or something like that. But I'd never had that thought before. I thought, This is extraordinary! I've never felt this before. What an adventure! It was a leap, but I wasn't leaping by myself. It was a leap into the future."

I have not seen the movie yet but I absolutely love Cate in all her movie roles. She has such superb talent for getting it right. I also admire she is not plastic & silcone. I have no use for actresses who are plumped & stretched.
