Courteney Cox to Prey on Younger Men for ABC
Courteney Cox will soon be on the prowl for younger men.
ABC has greenlighted a pilot starring the one-time Friends actress, who will play a sexy, newly-single, 40-something mom with a 17-year-old son. The show will be called Cougar Town.
"Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free," said Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence, who was a writer on Friends and later created Scrubs. "People don't do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing."
Courteney, 44, recently opened up about her own Botox use, telling Marie Claire: "I'm an actor, I've got to be able to move my face. When people start messing with their foreheads and can't life their eyebrows, that's weird. I hated it."
She also has experience as the older woman — since 1999 she's been married to David Arquette who is seven years her junior. Court's BFF, Jennifer Aniston, 39, also seems to have been bitten by the the cougar bug — she's been dating John Mayer, 31, off and on since the spring.
Production for Cougar Town is slated to begin in early January for a possible midseason launch.
Court's last series, Dirt, ran for two seasons on FX.
