Sex and the City Star: I Had Breast Cancer!

April 15, 2008

Although the girls from Sex and the City are notorious for having loose lips, Cynthia Nixon can keep a secret. And the actress has kept a big secret — two years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

On Tuesday's Good Morning America, Cynthia spoke about how she got a phone call from her gynecologist after a routine mammogram in 2006.

"'Well I have some [not] such great news,'" she recalled her doctor saying.

While Cynthia says she wasn't shocked by the doctor's news — her mother had overcome breast cancer — she says her girlfriend Christina Marinoni was quite upset and ate and ate to cope with the stress. She sat down her children and explained to them that Mom had cancer.

After having the cancer removed and undergoing six-and-a-half weeks of radiation, Cynthia is doing fine but is encouraging all women to get their mammograms.

I have been on Chemo treatments ever since. God Bless all who have battled Breast Cancer and Won. I am still Battling my Cancer and I will win.
