David Archuleta's Utah Concert Cancelled
It looks like David Archuleta's showboating father is up to his old tricks. The backseat driver to David's career — who was actually banned from attending American Idol rehearsals back in May — is once again butting heads with the show, this time over a summer concert he planned for his son in Salt Lake City.
"Back Home with David Archuleta" was scheduled to take place Thursday night at Salt Lake City's E Center, with two-thirds of the profits going to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Apparently the people at 19 Entertainment, the company responsible for promoting the summer American Idol tour, felt that fans wouldn't pay for tickets to see David on tour if they had already been able to see him in Utah. The concert was cancelled without an explanation Tuesday.
Jeff Archuleta told the Salt Lake City Tribune that the concert is being scheduled for a later date.
"When all the minds met, everyone concluded this wouldn't work out for this particular weekend," the elder Archuleta said. "They just want to reschedule it toward the middle or end of the [American Idol summer] tour."
Meanwhile, it looks like Jeff will have even more opportunities to control his son's career in the future. David has scored a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. That same label will also be producing Idol winner David Cook's debut album. Both discs are expected to hit shelves later this year.
In an official statement, David Archuleta said that signing the contract was "a dream come true" and that he's "really excited to start working on everything."

I am super mad at this rif-raf about not letting David and his Dad do a charity concert. Who would do such a thing? I am flabbergasted. Also, I think David and his Dad should have a little respect and privacy. David should have won. What a great role model and singer.
