David Cook's Other Inspiration
For David Cook, there's much more to American Idol than winning. As you read first in Star magazine, David has been sporting an orange bracelet each week in support of Lindsey Rose Belcher, a 7-year-old girl from Tampa who was diagnosed with leukemia last Christmas. And furthermore, the tribute hits close to home because Cook's older brother Adam is battling cancer as well. Last week, Star reported that Adam Cook, 36, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1998. Eight years later, Adam's outlook is still uncertain. "Regardless of what happens, he's the strongest person I know," says David. Like the orange bracelet he wears for Lindsey, David has an "AC" on his guitar as a tribute to Adam. As for Lindsey, she is psyched about David's very public recognition. When she saw David sporting her wristband, "she was dancing around and jumping up and down," says her father Charley. Regardless of whether or not he wins, one thing is for sure. David has given two people battling cancer an immense amount of love and support and for that, America loves him.
