Elisabeth Hasselbeck: "Today's a Victory for America"
The View's loyal Republican says she's okay with our new Democratic president.
On The View Wednesday, Barbara Walters asked Elisabeth Hasselbeck how she was feeling about the election results and the staunch McCain/Palin supporter said she was okay with Barack Obama's big win.
"Today is a victory for this country to have Barack Obama be our next president," Elisabeth told her co-hosts, who she has bitterly clashed with throughout the campaign. "The first black president. The first black first lady. [The first black first] family. 14 million more voters in this election than in the last presented themselves and voted for their country. Today is victory."
Her liberal tablemate, Joy Behar, cracked: "Are you saying I was right all along?"
Elisabeth also recounted watching the election results with her 3-year-old daughter, Grace, who asked her mom who won and who lost. "No one lost," the conservative co-host said she told her child. "Seriously, today is a victory for this country."
But it was Sherri Shepherd who really stole the show while talking about how it felt to share with her son Jeffrey, 3, the enormity of what took place Tuesday. The comedian broke into tears talking about how it felt for there to be "no limitations" for African-Americans.

I have to agree. When I look around the World and the United States and see all the advancement blacks make once in power, such as Detroit and Ohio I feel Obama is just right for America and just what we deserve. Obama you are the man.

I don't watch The View but I am aware of Elizabeth's passion and tenacity. Considering how conservative she appears to be and the regularity of her conflicts with her co-host I feel she handled the situation very gracefully.

I'm glad there is someone who doesn't have the same opinion as everyone else. It is great for America, but then again it isn't. His ideals he claims are so false it's sad everyone eats it up. I respect her for saying that, she has balls to be the only republican and stand for her beliefs. All of these comments about her just show ignorance.

I think Elizabeth's comments all along were out of spite as well as her being mean and always wanting to go on the attack. All I care about is America spoke! Thank God there will not be another darn republican in office. The last eight years have put this country in a financial crisis, and Bush has managed to make our country look horrible to other countries. Maybe now, other countries will regain the respect America once had. I say to Bush, YOU CAN'T LEAVE FAST ENOUGH FOR ME. Now that Bush has made a mess of the budget, Obama is not going to have it easy. So We all have to be understanding of that. He has a tough job ahead. THANKS G.W.
