Lady Gaga's Smackdown with Madonna

One day after Lady Gaga decided she'd didn't need no stinkin' Kanye West to tour, she fearlessly faced off with arguably the greatest pop star ever, Madonna, on the small screen.

Making her debut as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Gaga also appeared in several skits, but the one that left people talking was her appearance with surprise guest Madge.

During "Deep House Dish" — about a fake MTV chat show hosted by SNL cast members Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg — Lady Gaga and Madonna faced-off — complete with name calling, hair pulling and bitch slaps.

There were also insults aplenty. "What kind of name is Lady Gaga?" snipped Madonna. " It sounds like baby food." Replied Gaga: "The kind that's No. 1 on the Billboard charts."

Oh no she didn't!

The sketch — which certainly wasn't the best SNL has had to offer — ended with the pop rivals being instructed by Kenan to kiss and make up. As they leaned in for a liplock — reminiscent of Madonna kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera years back at the MTV VMAs — they ladies ended up kissing Kenan, who stuck his big mug right between them and seemed quite proud of himself for doing so.
