George Clooney once joked about having his eyes done, but his teeth are no laughing matter! While the Oscar-winning actor, 47, has always had a sexy grin, his smile looked bigger and brighter than ever at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in NYC on May 5. Jonathan Abenaim, D.M.D., a cosmetic dentist based in Hawthorne, N.J., tells Star George probably had work done because he grinds his teeth. "I can tell this because the edges on the bottom are not straight in the earlier photo," Dr. Abenaim tells Star. "When you grind your teeth, they get shorter. To restore the original look, the dentist has to lengthen teeth with porcelain veneers or crowns," says Dr. Abenaim. In addition to veneers, he thinks George had a "smile lift," a surgical procedure usually done with a laser that brings the gum up to expose more tooth. Though the cost of all this dental work likely set George back $30,000 to $35,000, Dr. Abenaim thinks it was well worth it. "It fills out his face more and makes him look younger," he says. What do you think of George's new smile? Tell us what you think.

I always hated the gummy smile part. He inherited from his mom. It's nice looking but it doesn't look like him anymore. Ah well. I guess he brushed that girl right out of his teeth. (Don't take that wrong, lol....

My dentist took one look at the photo and said, "His dentist butchered him. He looks like he's wearing bad dentures".
Huge mistake, George! Who are you now? -- Kathy

By the smile on his face it looks like he likes it but it's too dif from what he looked like before. His old teeth were kind of his signature and now the signature is gone bye bye.
