Good Morning America Cancels Adam Lambert Appearance

November 24, 2009

Good Morning America isn't interested in allowing Adam Lambert to express his "artistic freedom and expression" on their clock. However, CBS has no problem with it!

CBS has announced that The Early Show will play host to the American Idol runner-up Wednesday morning. He’ll perform live and discuss the controversy surrounding his AMAs appearance.

Two days after Adam shocked viewers of the American Music Awards with his racy act — during which he simulated oral sex with a male dancer, kissed his male bandmate, grabbed his crotch and flipped off the crowd — ABC's morning show canceled his scheduled performance that was to take place on Wednesday.

"Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning," a rep for the network said.

A source tells Star that ABC — which broadcast the AMAs — was flooded with calls from angry viewers following Sunday night's show, which aired live on the East Coast and was edited on the West Coast.

"After a special meeting was called, producers agreed they couldn't risk Adam acting up, especially since a lot of their audience is moms with small kids," says the source. "GMA is doing great in the ratings and the show would jeopardize possibly losing viewers to Today if Adam pulled a stunt like he did over the weekend."

Adding: "Allowing him to appear is just too dangerous and a risk GMA does not want to — nor can they afford to — take."

Following his performance on the AMAs, Adam -- who released his solo debut album, For Your Entertainment, on Nov. 23 -- was unapologetic.

"You know honestly, if I offended some people... it's apples and oranges," he said. "I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody either."

Do you agree with GMA's decision? Disagree? Let us know!

He should have not preformed the way he did . He showed no respect whatsoever and could have cared less if children were watching. I am glad they cancelled him .

disagree, i'm sure adam would not have performed like that so early in the morning, and plus
cbs morning shows are way better anyway!gma, too many old fogies its the 2000's not the 1930's

I agree he is not a babysitter for anyone, but to be so gross in front of people is disgusting. I guess he doesn't consider class in his act, "class act".
-- Gretchen

His performance is acceptable in a GAY CLUB/BAR, not for National Television. I felt offended by the way he had women under harness like dogs before he got so GROSS.
Keep your sexuality private, have a bit of class Adam. You will go farther with your career, if you do.
I would never buy his music or watch him again.

No one has the freedom to push their artistic expression into unsuspecting faces! Kudos to GMA!

Congrats to GMA for their high standards to viewers--too bad whatshisame (Adam Lambert), doesn't have any qualms about displaying his sad, personal performance. His agenda is all too clear and we are not amused...

ABC reps, said that they will replace Adam with Chris Brown, because they want audience to hear his site of story, but they did not give that chance to Adam. Apparently ABC is supporting spause abuse to their audiences
