‘Gossip Girl’ And ‘Buffy’ Alum Michelle Trachtenberg Dead At 39

Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for roles on “Gossip Girl” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” has died at the age of 39, per reports.

According to reports, Trachtenberg was found unconscious and unresponsive in a New York City apartment near Columbus Circle Wednesday morning, and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers.

The New York City Police Department told the New York Post the “Harriet The Spy” star’s death has not been deemed suspicious, and that the city’s medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Over the course of the last year, some fans expressed concern online about Trachtenberg’s appearance, suggesting she may be using drugs, suffering illness, or underwent plastic surgery. She clapped back, calling the speculators “haters.”

“Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition no problems. Why do you have to hate? Get a calendar,” she wrote on Instagram in January 2024.

“Ive received several comments recently about my appearance,” she wrote in another post that month. “I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters.”

ABC News, citing police sources, reported that Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant, and may have suffered complications.
