Hayden Panettiere's Dad Charged with Battery
Hayden Panettiere's father may not be much of a hero.
The Heroes star's father, Alan Panettiere, was charged with misdemeanor battery on Thursday stemming from a domestic dispute with his wife, Lesley, last month.
The 49-year-old was charged Thursday as a result of an incident that took place at the family's West Hollywood home on Aug. 11. Hayden's dad allegedly hit her mom in the left cheek with a closed fist, said Sgt. Scott Wolf, a spokesman for the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department. Hours before the alleged assault, the Panettieres attended a charity event hosted by Hayden at Eva Longoria's restaurant, Beso. (Click here to see a pic.)
The couple put on a united front after Alan was released from custody following his arrest. Meanwhile, Hayden told reporters last month that the incident had been blown out of proportion and that her family "is wonderful — so very happy."
Alan could face up to a year in jail if convicted, Los Angeles prosecutors said.
