Heidi & Spencer's Wedding Hoax
On Monday, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt returned to Los Angeles from Mexico following their shady elopement and — surprise, surprise — the newlyweds weren't wearing wedding rings. But this latest development is no surprise because — as Star reports in our Dec. 15 issue, on sale Wednesday — their quickie wedding was just another publicity stunt conjured up by the spotlight-seeking duo.
As soon as word broke that the reality couple tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas on Nov. 19, the questions immediately started as to whether the marriage was legal. After all, it takes at least five days to file the proper paperwork and have blood tests before American citizens can wed south of the border. Even Spencer acknowledged that their nuptials won't hold up in court, saying, "We'll take care of the legal details when we get home."
And while the couple insist that they married "on a whim," an insider tells Star that the whole thing was staged — an elaborate ploy to grab headlines from Lauren Conrad and other stars from The Hills and potentially land them their own reality series.
"They felt compelled to make a drastic move to grab some of the limelight," an insider tells Star.

If you watch the "wedding" episode of the Hills you can tell that this was all a BIG hoax! First of all, when they're in the bar drinking Patron, and Spencer is trying to convince her of getting married, it's pretty much dark outside right??? Well, the next day after they supposidly tied the knot, Heidi is going on and about how she did too many shots the night before and can't believe they got married, blah, blah, blah. Then they show the supposide video of the "ceremony"....that's when you can tell this is all CRAP! In the video, they show the chapel and you can very plainly see that it's BROAD DAY LIGHT!!! If they left that bar and it was DARK and got married right after, how the heck could it be DAYLIGHT in the video!
