Jake Gyllenhaal has dated Hollywood heavyweights like Kirsten Dunst and Natalie Portman, and is now living with Reese Witherspoon, but who knew that his girlfriends also included former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton? The odd couple have known each other for years through their parents, an insider tells Star, and they even went out for a few months back in 1999. But sparks failed to fly, and they each went their separate ways. Jake, 27, and Chelsea, 28, are still tight, adds the source — and Chelsea thinks Reese would make the perfect wife for her friend. "Chelsea is a big Reese fan," says the source. "She told him, 'Don't let her get away.'" As for Chelsea, she's been dating investment banker Marc Mezvinsky for several years. His parents are former members of Congress, so he also grew up in Washington, D.C. and has known Chelsea since they were teenagers. Do you think Reese and Jake are the real deal? chelsea: Please talk to Jake's mother. She doesn't like Reece, and sounds an like ultra elitist liberal who wants someone like you for a daughter-in-law, a politicians daughter. Can't believe a surgeons daughter isn't good enough for her baby...
