Jay-Z Speaks Out about Rihanna/Chris Brown Situation

February 15, 2009

Jay-Z has finally spoken out about the alleged assault against his protégée Rihanna by Chris Brown.

The rap mogul, who discovered Rihanna, 20, when he was President of Def Jam and has acted as her mentor, is clearly upset by the situation, which took place last weekend in Los Angeles after a pre-Grammy party.

"It's not a sound bite, this is a real situation," he told HollyScoop at the Third Annual Two Kings Dinner in Phoenix, where he was for NBA All-Star Weekend. "You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that."

And while he wouldn't comment on Chris, 19, who canceled his scheduled appearances at NBA All-Star Weekend, he did have kind words for Ri-Ri, saying, "I just think we should all support her. She's going through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."

Meanwhile, Rihanna's father also spoke out about the incident. Of Chris he said, "You think you know somebody, but you really don't." He added that his daughter is currently in her native Barbados, where she's surrounded by her girlfriends.

people need to leave them alone their young it doesn't excuse his actions but it doesn't mean everyone can talk shit.. for real.. they are both amazing singers and should both continue to do that even if they aren't an item anymore..

I think they should just leave them alone. I mean dont get me wrong it was not right. But at the same time things happen!! If she can forgive him and dont think we need a too worry about it enough more!!!! And like I said no I am not giving an excuse for him!!! Because no one should get hit up like that!! But thing just got out of hand!!! But I let you know one thing you would have known it was two people involved!! Because would have had a picture of him too!! But like I said we just need to leave them alone and go on!!! Because while you still worry ABOUT it!! And she sleeping that night not even thinking about it and you are? Because I be damn if I worry about some one and they not going nothing about it, that should tell you that she was doing good!!! Because she is a bright young women!!!And if she DONT KNOW WHATS BEST FOR HER THAN THAT A PERSONAL PROBLEM

no matter what she did it doesnt give a man tha rite to put his hand on ne woman. there r alot of women who r in abusive relationships and some who is not in here any more cus tha one they loved killed them. all im sayin that if he gets help i wish him tha best in life. hopefully he learned from his mistake.

I think it is great that Jay-Z steped in as her brother....but is seems like she will be learning life the hard way. Let her do what she wants because that is the only way she will learn anything. Be there when she needs you but dont overcast her. She is an young adult and untill she gets convictions of her own no one will be able to help her. You can give someone all the advice in the world, but if they dont want to change whatever it is ....it will not matter
