Celeb Sightings! Hot Gossip! Star WANTS THE SCOOP

Jesse McCartney's Star-Spangled Fail

Attention celebrities who are asked to sing our national anthem: Learn the words before you take the mic.

Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. Many celebs fail while performing the task, including -- most recently -- Jesse McCartney.

On Sunday the 22-year-old was singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. But while doing the honors, he forgot the entire second line: What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.

Jesse later claimed he had stagefright, tweeting: "Can't believe I forgot the words to the Anthem! I've performed it 100 times. Bad Nerves today I guess."

Hey, could have been worse. At least the star — who's promoting Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Sequel — didn't come out and start singing in the voice of Alvin, Simon or Theodore!

Doo-doo-do-do-do-do!

What do you think? Did Jesse make a HUGE mistake or a tiny flub? Talk back below.

Jesse, don't worry about it too much. It is just a song. True it is our national anthem but all it really says is that we are happy to have a flag. No more than that. So, all the people that would like to say that you are unamerican or that it is not right for you to forget words, can not really say anything at all. Half of our American population does not even know half of the song anyways. So, you just forgetting a few words is not a big deal. Honestly if you were to have one of those people who are laughing about this on the stage themselves, you would see half of them fail at it too, and most of them probably could not even recite the lyrics at all. So, keep your spirts up. It's one song and we all make mistakes. No one is perfect, so keep up with all the good work you do and don't worry about this mess up too much. :)
