John Mayer Thinks He Should Be Sleeping with More Women
John Mayer has been linked to a long list of celebrity ladies — most famously Jennifer Aniston — but the singer thinks he should be bedding even more women.
"It’s crazy to me that in my head, that being 32 and dating women is going to get me in trouble," he tells the New York Times. "I can’t even explain to you how terrible that feels, that I equate dating a woman with punishment, shame, guilt, disappointment, reproach, reprimand, persecution. It’s a nightmare."
He concludes: "I should be having sex with more girls.”
His new album, Battle Studios will be released on Tuesday and it includes a duet with Taylor Swift (see her celebrity page) called "Half of My Heart." The song goes: “Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring/But half of my heart is the part of a man who’s never truly loved anything.”
John didn't share the inspiration behind the song, but when he debuted it — last March at a charity event — it was weeks after he ended his year-long relationship with Jennifer — soon after their much-publicized coming out appearance at the Oscars.
However, in the new interview he claims he's not singing about his famous flings on his new album.
"I think if you're listening to Battle Studies and you think it's a record about high-profile relationships, I haven't done a good enough job," he tells the paper.
