Exclusive: The Real Story Behind Jon & the Other Kate
Before setting out for Pennsylvania, to cover Jon and Kate Gosselin, Star reporter Kate Major joked, "I could be the next Kate!" And that's just about what happened when the 26-year-old began a torrid fling with Jon — all while he was still seeing family-friend-turned-girlfriend Hailey Glassman.
It was love at first sight for Kate when she met Jon outside his $1.1 million home on July 17. Jon's bodyguard asked her to move her car from the Gosselin property, Kate tells Star. “I introduced myself as a reporter and said, 'I’d like to meet Jon.'" The bodyguard’s response? “I bet he wants to meet you.” At that, the bodyguard snapped a cell phone photo of Kate and texted it to Jon, who wrote back, “Yes! I want to talk to her.”
The attraction was instant and they began a whirlwind romance — and a love triangle.
Hailey, the 22-year-old Jon had been dating, was so clueless about the budding romance that she even gushed to Kate about her relationship with Jon when the trio met for an interview at a Starbucks near Hailey's hometown of New City, N.Y.
"I felt conflicted about liking Jon when I realized how nice [Hailey] was — I felt so bad for her,” Kate revealed to Star. “But I didn’t plan anything.”

I think Jon needs to grow up and be a father to his kids. They are the reason he is able to do everything with these women. But he doesn't seem to be spending much time at home. If he really cared about his kids, he would just stay closer to them and be there everyday to make sure they were okay. Leaving Kate alone to deal with their kids understanding a divorce! He helped make those kids,, now its time to deal with the hard stuff, SUCK IT UP JON!
