Update: Jon & Kate Gosselin Split

It's official: America's most talked about couple, Jon and Kate Gosselin, are separating.

Just hours before the couple announced their split on Monday's Jon & Kate Plus 8, legal papers were filed in Pennsylvania to dissolve their marriage.

"Kate and I have decided to separate. It's just not good for us to be arguing in front of kids," Jon said on Monday's episode.

He added, "I was too passive. I just let her rule the roost and whatever she wanted to do and I just went along with everything and now I finally stood up on my own two feet and I'm proud of myself."

Kate said she didn't blame the show for the breakdown of her marriage but admitted she is struggling with the decision to split. "I had a half of a day where I let myself fall apart and hyperventilate and sob harder than I've ever sobbed in my life. By the time I woke up the next morning, I had decided I just need relief now. I'm tired of smiling on the outside and crying on the inside. I've been doing that for a long time."

Kate said she doesn't hate Jon and never will. Still, she vented, "Jon has a lot of anger toward me and I would love to discuss it with him but he won't talk to me. That's the truth. So I'm kind of lost. He won't hold a discussion with me.... I don't know that he knows what he wants."

Jon and Kate's downward spiral started in March when Star revealed exclusively that Jon was partying with college coeds in Huntingdon, Pa. Cheating allegations followed and the pair became more and more distant. Jon was even spotted in New York City looking at Donald Trump-owned apartments this past Friday.

The Gosselins were married for 10 years. They said they will share custody of their eight children and will take turns living in their Pennsylvania mansion. Kate says the "flip-flopping" will be difficult for the children, but it's what is best for them. Jon says he will miss his kids a lot.

Although Kate said, "I don't really want to be alone," she proclaimed, "The show must go on."

Jon & Kate had great careers before this show. She was an RN
& he was an IT Analyst. They made more than enough money to
support a family of eight together or apart. This is about
greed at the expense of their children. They both strike me as
survivors & if TLC had never come along, they would have no
other option, but to make it!

I don't becasue it was most interesting when they were complete as a family. I was thinking like recently on the beginnig of this year Jon and Kate renewed their marriage. Did they do it for publicity? I still watch the show so I can see what going on in the Gosselin house. Anyway my opinion restated is no.

Money is not everything. I would give up alot to be happier with
my family. Take a long look at these children who have been put in front of cameras for the money. I pray for there well-being.

I don't blame Jon for leaving Kate... everything is always about KATE, KATE, KATE.... she acts like she was the only one in that relationship that did anything for the kids. When really in my eyes I seen Jon doing most of the work, getting up early and getting the kids ready. He wasn't mean on the kids like Kate IS. He wasn't the one sucking back on a whole bottle of wine to relieve and stress he had. In and tabloids anywhere, you don't see anything about Jon hitting the kids or depriving them of something to drink. If anything I think that the 8 kids would be better of with their FATHER.
