Who's in it: Lisa Kudrow, Scott Prendergast, Jeffrey Dean Morgan
What's it about: An Iraq war bride (Kudrow) tries to cope with childcare issues by hiring her inept brother-in-law as a nanny.
Monster patrol: Salman (Prendergast) has his hands full with his two nephews, holy terrors whose idea of a fun toy is a hammer. Eventually, to earn some money, he's forced to put on a huge blue mascot costume to pass out flyers for a local business. And that's when things get weird.
Prendergast wrote and directed and he's got an intriguingly beaten-down screen presence. Kudrow wanders through the film with a look on her face as though she just smelled something bad - and makes it funny every time. Morgan plays Kudrow's boss, who is diddling her on the side. Watch for Conchata Ferrell ("Two and a Half Men") in a hilarious small part as Salman's chain-smoking boss for his mascot gig.
Long story short: It's kooky but it grows on you.
