Katherine Heigl Wants To Go Mormon Again
With a starring role on Grey's Anatomy and box office hits like Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that Katherine Heigl is serious about her craft. But the 29-year-old actress discusses another aspect of her life she wants to take more seriously: her Mormon faith.
"I'm not as disciplined about it was I once was, but I hope to find my way back as I get older and a little less selfish," Katherine tells Britain's Daily Mail. "I'm ashamed to say that I've just got very lazy about it. I satisfy my vices instead of fighting them."
The newlywed — she married singer Josh Kelley in December — explains, "If I start going back to church, I'd have to stop the smoking and drinking. And I wouldn't be able to curse anymore."
Katherine's parents converted to Mormonism when she was seven years old, following the death of her 15-year-old brother Jason. She said the tragedy initially took a major toll on her family's ability to function, but that they had faith and eventually pulled it together.
She may need to call upon that faith again as she takes the lead in a film adaptation of the best-selling memoir Escape. It's the story of Carolyn Jessop, an 18-year-old forced to marry a man 30 years her senior in a Polygamist cult before eventually escaping with her eight children.
Should Katherine return to her Mormon faith?

It's up to Katherine, but she's more than welcome to return to her faith. It's always a good thing when people find their way to their roots, and those roots run strong for those in the LDS tradition. Them's good people, and Katherine is and always will be loved by them.

It's Katherine's choice: Should she come back to full activity in the LDS (Mormon) Church, she would and should be welcomed with open arms.
Contrary to the assertions of some, the LDS Church is not a social club. It is the FOURTH LARGEST CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION in the United States, and as a Mormon myself, Katherine should know that she will always be welcomed back. -- Tim - Milwaukee, WI
the people who said no are goofy and the ones who said yes it's her choice are right one and us mormons are not brainwashing anybody and i like my special underwear thanks..

The decision of whether or not to return to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) is something that is between Katherine and her Heavenly Father. He loves her, just as he loves all of his children, and will be waiting for her with open arms if and when she decides to come back, just as He would for any of us. I would hope that she would, so that she can receive all of the joy, peace and happiness that come with knowing you are doing the Lords will here on earth.

Heck yes, she totally should. Some people may not think so but that's because they haven't talked to a Mormon about the church and take the advice of the internet which is mostly against Mormons. And there is a break of the Mormon church, we are actually are the Church of Jesus Christ and we don't believe in polygamy it is totally wrong. those people in Texas make the LDS (mormons) look bad because they are the break of and tell people they are mormon. Please talk to a member first.

Absolutely. The religion supports strong values, ethics and integrity. For the most part members of the Mormon Church are diligent and compassionate. They know what is to actually help others. Charity and reciprocity. What a wonderful example!

While I dont attend church, I see nothing wrong whith people who do. If it fulfills Katherine, than she should. My prob is with the Mormon religion. Unfortunately , many use it today to promote polygamy, which is wrong. I also have a problem believing that a prophet was name "Maroni"
