Despite what you may have read elsewhere, the handsome singer/songwriter spotted around New York City with Lindsay Lohan on Jan. 28 is NOT her new boyfriend. Who says so? The young hottie in question, Jeremy Greene - and he exclusively tells Star the true story behind his relationship with Lindsay!
A recording artist with Interscope / Streamline Records - and managed by Jessica Simpson's dad, Joe Simpson - Jeremy, 25, tells Star: "Lindsay's sister Ali had been working with another singer/producer whom I had written some tracks for, and Lindsay's mom Dina liked my songs. So she reached out to me in early November and asked me if I wanted to come to their home in Long Island, New York to take part in the Lohan family reality series pilot they were shooting."
Jeremy flew into New York from L.A. (he splits his time between California and his home state of Maine) and shot some scenes with Dina, Ali and Lindsay's younger brother Cody. "Lindsay wasn't there," says Jeremy, "and I don't think her father Michael is involved."
It wasn't until just before Christmas that Jeremy and Lindsay first met. "Dina invited me to stay over at the family home, so I flew in from Maine," Jeremy tells Star. "Lindsay was there, and we immediately hit it off. I crashed at the family home that night in her older brother Michael's bedroom, since he was away at college."
Jeremy left the next day - but he says that he and Lindsay have been talking "at least twice a week" since then.
He reveals: "I was in Maine on Jan. 27, when Lindsay called me and said, 'Let's get together. Why don't you come down to New York?' I flew in the next day and met her at her suite in Manhattan's Four Seasons Hotel.
"We went shopping early in the evening, just the two of us - but I stayed mostly in our SUV because the paparazzi were already onto her. And after we returned to the hotel, we ended up going out to dinner separately, because I just didn't want to get caught up in all the frenzy."
He met up with Lindsay again in her suite at 11 pm. "We chilled out together for about an hour, before I left to stay with a friend on Long Island," says Jeremy, who admits Lindsay was in a romantic mood that evening - but he insists: "I'm a gentleman and I'm not just gonna hook up with anyone like that."
Jeremy got a lift home to Maine on Jan. 29 - but now he's being swamped with press reports about his alleged love affair with Lindsay.
Setting the record straight, Jeremy tells Star: "Lindsay is a good person who means well, and I love her family dearly. But sometimes she has a habit of losing touch with reality - and I'm not one of those typical guys who have tried to take advantage of her."
