Lynne Spears: My Family Is "Through the Storm"

September 17, 2008

Lynne Spears — mother of Britney and Jamie-Lynn — says the worst is behind for her family.

Promoting her new book, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, on the Today show, Lynne talked about Britney's meltdown, Jamie Lynn's teen pregnancy and said, "We're through the storm and we're looking at the sunshine right now."

"It was so crazy at that time," Lynne said of the double whammy of Britney being committed for psychiatric problems shortly after learning that 16-year-old Jamie Lynn was preggers. "I don't think anybody was trying to sit and think what was going on," Lynne said. "We were praying very hard, because it seemed like we were having no control over anything that was happening."

Lynne confirmed to the Today show that Jamie Lynn delivered the shocking baby news to her via a note. The teen star of Zoey 101 handed her mom the piece of paper and said she should read it privately. "It said she was pregnant and everything was going to be okay," Lynne recalled. "She was going to raise it... I thought it was a joke. I was waiting for the punch line... I think I was just truly in shock, and then I started to cry. And she started consoling me at that point."

As for Britney, Lynne said she's on an upswing since her ex, Jamie, took over as conservator and helped the pop tart get her career back on track. Brit recently picked up three VMA Awards and has a new album in the works. "She's strong," Lynne said of Brit. "She's resilient. She's had some big bumps in the road, but Britney's fine. Britney is headed to the top once again. I have no fears about Britney."

Lynne says she's blamed herself for her daughters' troubles, but she's a lot like other moms.

"It's a balancing act," she said. "Maybe I haven't done it as best as I could, but all I ever tell you is I tried."

This woman clearly need to take up parenting 101. She is money hungry. It's like she is her daughters pimp and the are the whores who pay her really well.

I see a follow up book coming.
"Why My Daughters Are Idiot Whores That Thrive On Making Bad Decisions That Embarrass The Entire Family "
-- Lynn

i think that lynn wants some fame. i think that it is wrong for her to promote a book about her kids personal life and the problems they have had. i think that that should be kept private. lynn just wants attention and she is looking for it in the wrong place. when her children disown her that is her own problem
-- private

No. Lynne had her eye on the all mighty dollars. It is not okay to allow your children to do drugs and drink alcohol when they are 13 years old. It is not okay to allow your daughter to sleep with her boyfriends "as long as you are in the house". I thought the Spears were Christians. They did not raise their children with values; surely not with christian values. I think Lynne was a "blood sucker" only concerned about what was in it for her. I'm amazed Lynne thought it was okay to "pimp" her children out for almight dollar. She needed the money so she wrote book on the "back" of her children. What a sad and pathetic faux parent.

this book was absolutely amazing. i just sat down and read the whole thing in a day and a half.

before reading this book, i thought the same as all of you. lynne spears is "selling out" her kids. but after reading it, i realize that i NOT the case at all.

i recommend this book to everyone. it's absolutely brilliant and i will from now on pray for this family by name!
