Madonna Rejects Movie Role for Lourdes
Madonna lives her life in the spotlight, but she doesn't want the same for her children — at least not yet.
When her eldest, Lourdes, was offered a small role in the upcoming dramedy The Secret Life of Bees, the 50-year-old pop diva said no way.
"Madonna didn't work 'til after high school, and she wants it to be the same way for Lourdes," says a source. "She doesn't want her to enter that harsh world."
But Madonna may need to prepare herself. Lourdes, adds the source, has told her mom that she wants to act when she turns 14 in 2010.
"Lourdes is pretty determined, so I predict a battle in the future!"

It's Madonna's choice. I just hope she isn't holding Lourdes back because she doesn't want to share the spotlight and get trumped. Either way, it's only fair to respect her wishes as Lourdes protective mom.
