Mario Lopez To Host Extra
Mario Lopez just can't say no. The Dancing with the Stars hunk — who's starring in Broadway's A Chorus Line, promoting a fitness book and hosting America's Best Dance Crew — is adding one more gig to his busy schedule: full-time host of Extra!
Mario will take over for Extra's current co-host, Mark McGrath, on Sept. 15 as the Sugar Ray singer leaves to focus on his music career. Co-host Dayna Devon has been downgraded to a special correspondent role and will serve as a backup host for Mario.
"Mario has done a great job as the host of our weekend show and has established himself as a highly engaging, likeable and sought-after host and personality," said Telepictures President Hilary Estey McLoughlin. "He will be a fresh and dynamic presence for the show, and we can't wait for him to assume his new role."
Star first reported Mario was being eyed for the job in last week's issue.
