Update: Natasha Richardson Transported to NY Following Ski Accident
Natasha Richardson has been critically injured following a ski accident and was taken to New York for further treatment.
The actress, who's married to Liam Neeson, was skiing — without a helmet — at Mont Tremblant in Quebec on Monday when she suffered a serious head injury. After being hospitalized in Montreal, she was transported to New York on Tuesday to be closer to her Millbrook, NY, home.
"Natasha left Montreal via private plane with her husband," a source tells Star. "Her husband, children and family are worried sick about her."
The accident took place while the actress was on the slopes on Monday.
"Ms. Richardson fell during a ski lesson but she didn't show any signs of injury," a spokeswoman for the ski resort said. "The ski patrol looked at her and reported that she was laughing and joking. They told her to see [a physician] but she insisted that she was fine and just wanted to go back to her room. The instructor and two members of the patrol accompanied her to her hotel room."
She continues: "After an hour or so she said she had a headache, then they called 911. We have the signed form in which she declined medical attention. She was not wearing a helmet. The law in Quebec does not require it but we always suggest it but cannot impose it."
Liam — with whom she has two sons, Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12 — rushed to his wife's side from the set of the movie Chloe, which he was filming in Toronto.
Despite reports that her sons were skiing with her at the time of her fall, our source tells Star that they were not with her.
Natasha, the daughter of Oscar-winner Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson, has appeared in films including The Parent Trap, Evening and Maid in Manhattan. She also appeared in the 1994 film Nell alongside her future husband Liam. They married a short time later.
She's also had success on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
Her sister Joely Richardson currently has a recurring role in the FX show Nip/Tuck.
In January, Natasha paired up with her mother for a one-night concert version of A Little Night Music, the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical. They had so much fun they signed on to headline a full-fledged revival on Broadway next year.
She also recently appeared as a guest judge on Bravo's Top Chef.
