PREGNANT MARCIA CROSS AMAZES HER CASTMATES
TV veteran Marcia Cross is famous for her strong work ethic, but even her Desperate Housewives co-stars are amazed at how the 44-year-old actress refuses to slow down even as she carries twins!
Cross is expecting her twin bundles of joy in April with her husband of four months, financier Tom Mahoney. But Marcia makes no concessions to her physical state on the set of Desperate Housewives — despite the fact that the other ladies of Wisteria Lane, especially her on-set best friend Eva Longoria, are dying to wait on her hand and foot!
“Eva wants to be Marcia’s protector, but Marcia isn’t having any of it,” a set source tells Star. “Eva will call time during shooting and say that Marcia needs a break to get off her feet. And Marcia just says, ‘Don’t worry, Eva, I’m doing fine.’
“Marcia just plugs along — she’s on time every morning, she doesn’t make a fuss is someone screws up and everyone has to stay on set to re-shoot a scene and stay there for hours.
“If she didn’t have everyone’s respect before this, she’s certainly getting it now!”
Cross’ pregnancy is not being written into the storyline for her character Bree Van de Kamp on Housewives. As Marcia says, “I’m going to be hiding behind bowls and flowers,” as her baby bulge grows.
“Teri (Hatcher), Felicity (Huffman), really all the gals have told Marcia how much they admire her for being such a trooper,” the source says. “Everyone knows Eva and her boyfriend (basketball star Tony Parker) have been having a tough go of it being apart so much, and Marcia always pulls Eva aside during breaks in shooting to talk.
“Eva is like, ‘You’re getting all big and hormonal and here you are worried about me! It makes me feel selfish.’
“Really, I think the cast and the show’s producers were a little apprehensive on how this was going to work out for Marcia on the set, especially since it’s her first pregnancy and she doesn’t necessarily know what to expect. But so far, so good!”
