TOMKAT WEDDING BLOG: NEW DETAILS!
TOM'S GOT "THAT LOVIN' FEELING"
Posted Nov. 21, 2006
When it comes to romance, Tom Cruise doesn't mind taking a cue from one of his most famous on-screen characters. During Saturday's wedding reception when the deejay played "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers, the happy groom began singing along and serenaded his new bride, Katie Holmes, in front of the 150 gathered guests — just like the famous scene in Top Gun when Maverick (played by Tom) sings to Kelly McGillis. It worked in the movie and it apparently worked on Katie too.

Sources say Jennifer Lopez sent for a dozen pizzas upon returning to her hotel, leaving many to wonder if the reception fare was spread too thin.
And J.Lo's tummy wasn't the only one grumbling after the wedding — several other guests were seen sneaking food into the hotel!

A spokesperson for Rome's Ciampino Airport confirmed to the Associated Press that newlyweds, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, flew out of Italy early this morning for a honeymoon in the Maldives islands. The exotic islands which have 1,190 coral reef islands are in the Indian Ocean on the equator insuring year-round sunshine. Sounds like the fairy-tale continues for Tom and Katie!
THE MAYOR'S "SOUR GRAPES"
Posted Nov. 19, 2006
Sure, it was "the Wedding of the Century" but not everything went Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' way yesterday; first their fireworks display was ruined by a dense fog and now the mayor of the picture-postcard town the pair chose for their Scientology wedding has taken back the honorary citizenship she bestowed upon them because she thinks they snubbed the local citizens. "Honorary citizenship for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes?" Mayor Patrizia Riccioni asked. "They don't deserve it. An entire town sacrificed themselves for them. Many volunteers, police, businesses were [needed to] close down traffic and this is the result? Mr. Cruise invited Walter Veltroni [the mayor of Rome] and left out the people of Bracciano. It was a real nasty thing to do."
Mrs. Riccioni, who may be suffering a case of sour grapes because she wasn't on the guest list for the wedding of the century while the mayor of Rome which is some 27 miles south of Bracciano and whom met with the celebrity couple earlier in the week said she was furious that the couple didn't find time to stop and wave or greet the local townspeople, hundreds of whom waited patiently in the on-off rain and then later in the dense night fog, for a glimpse of the glamorous couple.
"I am disappointed in the way they behaved," Mrs. Riccioni said. "It was arrogant and didn't take into account the feeling of the townspeople. It is strange that the mayor of Rome got invited and not me. We are an autonomous town and not a satellite of the capital. And I have to say that it was not nice that the couple didn't offer themselves for even an instant to the people of Bracciano who welcomed them with so much enthusiasm, decorating the whole town in their honor."
JUST MARRIED!
Posted Nov. 18, 2006

Katie Holmes is now officially Katie Cruise! The couple tied the knot at Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy on Saturday. More than 150 guests were in attendance, including Cruise's children Isabella and Connor (with first wife Nicole Kidman) and Tom and Katie's 7-month-old daughter Suri.
Katie wore an off-the-shoulder bridal gown by Giorgio Armani and carried calla lilies wrapped in leaves of galax and steelgrass. The gown featured a train in ivory silk cadis adorned in Valenciennes lace and Swarovski beaded crystal embroidery, featuring a delicate crinoline frill at the shoulders and a silk soleil border around the hem. Holmes also chose an ivory tulle floor length veil and ivory silk shoes.
Tom wore a navy blue two-button satin peak lapel single breasted Armani handmade tuxedo with flat front trousers and matching four-button vest. The tuxedo was complemented by an ivory silk French collar shirt, of the same fabric as the bride's gown.
The wedding party included Isabella and Connor, Katie's sister Nancy Blaylock as Matron of Honor and Tom's best friend David Miscavige as the Best Man. Holmes' two older sisters, her brother, and parents were also on hand, as were Cruise's three sisters and mother Mary Lee. Katie was walked down the aisle by her father during the traditional marriage ceremony, which was performed by a Scientology minister. The couple exchanged rings by Cartier.
After they took their vows, the couple celebrated with family and friends at a wedding reception which included colorful and elegant floral décor accented with red roses. TomKat was serenaded by world-renowned Italian vocalist Andrea Bocelli. Guests enjoyed a multi-course meal followed by five-tiered white chocolate wedding cake which was decorated with marzipan roses, and was studded with white chocolate chips and featured white chocolate mouse and white chocolate cream filling.
For the reception, Katie changed into an asymmetric champagne Giorgio Armani Privé evening dress made of silk organza and decorated in Swarovski crystal beads. It looks like Tom really did give Katie a fairy-tale wedding!

BUT IS THE WEDDING LEGAL?
Posted Nov. 18, 2006
Yes! Reps for Tom and Katie released a statement saying, "As is customary for couples marrying outside of the United States, Cruise and Holmes officialized their marriage in Los Angeles prior to their departure for Italy."
The legality of TomKat's wedding ceremony was under serious scrutiny as the Roman Catholic Church and the mayor of Rome confirmed rumors that the couple did not file an application for either a civil marriage or a religious ceremony.
The wedding was conducted by a Scientology minister, which unfortunately renders the marriage unrecognized by Italy.
Weird, yes. Surprising, no. Cruise has not been shy about his devotion to Scientology and his desire to have a Scientology union with his new wife. (It's actually been a point of contention between Katie and her parents, as the Holmes clan was hoping for a traditional Catholic ceremony).
