DO BRITS HAVE MORE BRAINS? GWYNETH SAYS "YES!"

Gwyneth Paltrow appears to thumb her nose at her fellow Americans in a recent interview with NS, the weekend magazine supplement for the Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias.
The Oscar-winning actress, 34 -- who lives in London, England with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and their two children, Apple and Moses -- tells the magazine: "I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner." Paltrow adds: "I like living here because I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans." (At least Americans had brains enough not to pay for the privilege of seeing Gwyneth in bombs like Shallow Hal and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.)
Not surprisingly, Paltrow sites Madonna, 48 -- another American who seems to have reinvented herself as being veddy British -- as a personal hero. "She's like an older sister," Gwyneth raves about the Material Girl, who also lives in the London area with her hubby, British director Guy Richie. "Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer. She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself."
