NEW YEAR'S REPORT: JESSICA AND JOHN RING IN THE NEW YEAR!
It was the public display of affection between Jessica Simpson and singer John Mayer that stole the attention from Christina Aguilera at her NYE party (co-hosted by NYC nightclub Stereo's Michael Satsky and Rich Kleiman) at the Hudson Hotel. A surprisingly modest-dressed Jessica arrived around 2 am to the Heineken-sponsored bash looking quite happy to be seen on John's arm! There was no question about it; the couple was together and for once not trying to hide it.
Star's Shira Levine witnessed the new couple in action. Although John spent the first part of the evening ignoring Jessica — who whined, "Baby this and baby that," said an eyewitness. After she spent much of their time together tugging on his leg and clothing as he talked to other revelers, Jessica ultimately won the crooner over with several playful squeezes of his rear-end!
The lovebirds then spent some time nuzzling and kissing, unafraid of showing off their romance. With John's attention finally on Jessica, he even gave her a tender back scratch and rubbed her neck as she chatted with friends.
And finally, before John could leave Jessica again to party with his friends — ever the romantic — John grabbed Jessica's face in his giant hands, pulled her close and planted several kisses on her lips. The lovey-dovey couple together left just before 3am and headed to a private party at Stereo where they partied on until 6am! Sources say the couple is staying together at the Mercer Hotel in SoHo.
