JENNIFER HUDSON DISSES AMERICAN IDOL
Oscar nominee Jennifer Hudson isn't pulling any punches when it comes to her feelings about American Idol — the show that first gave her national exposure. "On American Idol, you go through this mental thing; you've got to get yourself back together. You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think," Hudson tells the new issue of Essence. Now a Golden Globe and SAG winner for her role in Dreamgirls, the Idol reject says, "You become a character — I became the girl in the turkey wrapping." (Referring to an unflattering outfit that judge Simon Cowell said, "You look like you should be something you should wrap a turkey in.") Says Hudson, "I just knew I had to sing my way out of it. I don't believe in looking back, and I didn't look back."
