AVRIL LAVIGNE, BUFFY IN COMIC BOOKS

February 1, 2007

Punk rock meets Japanese Manga when Canadian punk pop tart Avril Lavigne will be immortalized in an English language Japanese styled graphic novel.

The story is about a shy girl who meets a wish-granting demon. Things don't go well and it is Lavigne who helps her get through it. It is expected to come out this April.

Another demon-fighting lass will be getting her own comic book as well. Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be resurrected from TV series cancellation this fall in the form of a comic book.

Joss Whedon, the show's creator, will be overseeing the project and told MTV News, "A comic has got to work on a grander, epic scale. We can really take the characters wherever we want, and of course, that means I can kill them. That's where the fun is, in revisiting these characters. It's like being with my old friends, but in actuality, not being with my old friends, because the actors aren't there to play them. It's a little different. This is bigger variations. It's a symphony based on the little tune we played."

This will be quite a year for comic book fans!
