Jennifer Hudson talks Oscar, American Idol
At the NAACP Awards held last Saturday, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson talked to Star. Hudson is currently working on an album and opened up to us with some candid answers!
Star: What do you think got you where you are today?
Hudson: I've had an unusual amount of support as long as I can remember. One of my friends, we've known each other since 6th grade, he always gave me great ideas and help direct me. And also my mother. She would always say do what makes me happy. Even when I didn't think that I could, she convinced me, whether it was to sing or to act, that I was good at what I did. I was sayin, why you say that, and I realized I could.
Star: How has life changed since Oscar?
Hudson: The paparazzi are following me now. They were at the airport. I'm not used to that! It's just different. I didn't realize an award could do all of that. That's the biggest thing. Other than that, I don't get to go anywhere now.
Star: Any inspiring words for people?
Hudson: Don't give up and don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do.
Star: Any advice for American Idol this season?
Hudson: It's ok if you don’t win! The train will keep on smokin!
Star: Who inspires you musically?
Hudson: Whitney is the greatest person who has influenced me. I used to create duets for her and me to sing.
Star: Are you going to get married to your boyfriend?
Hudson: Maybe in 5 or 10 years. I think that's why people end up breaking up in Hollywood because folks want to marry them off too fast!
