Inquest Into Daniel Smith Death's Death Moving Slow
In accordance with the slow and steady style the Anna Nicole Smith court proceedings have taken, the coroner's inquiry into the death of Smith's son Daniel's death was brought to an abrupt pause Wednesday. Spectators and reporters were ordered to leave the courtroom so that lawyers and the judge could enjoy a suspiciously secret meeting behind close doors.
Wayne Munroe, a lawyer for the estate of the former Playboy Playmate, asked the judge to consider a motion that "relates to the impaneling of a jury to act on this inquiry," according to Fox News.
The meeting lasted all day and is expected to continue Wednesday. Court doors will open to the public on Thursday, when the parties are expected to hand pick a jury.
Daniel Smith died at the ripe age of 20 in September while in the Bahamas visiting his mother and three-day-old sister in the hospital. Dr. Cyril Wecht, a forensic pathologist hired by Anna Nicole, concluded that Daniel died from methadone and two antidepressants interacting in his system.
