J.Lo's Nod To Scientology On American Idol?
Stunning singer-actress Jennifer Lopez appears to have referred to one of the Church of Scientology's tenets, during her guest appearance on American Idol as a mentor to the contestants.
In response to a question from American Idol host Ryan Seacrest about judge Simon Cowell's harsh judging of contestants, nurturing Jennifer scoffed at such harshness, telling Ryan that she believed that "concentrating on the rightness brings more rightness."
So what's the connection to the Church of Scientology? L. Ron Hubbard penned an essay on May 23, 1971, titled "Recognition of Rightness of the Being." He wrote:
"If you have no rightnesses present...you will never be able to make any progress of any kind. So you have to realize that there are rightnesses present and then you increase those rightnesses."
It comes as little surprise that Jennifer would cite a Church of Scientology belief, considering many people in her life are parishoners of the Church of Scientology. Friends include Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Leah Remini, and during an interview earlier this year, 37-year-old Jennifer said her father is a Scientologist, and has been for the past twenty years.
During the interview, aired on NBC's Miami affiliate in January, Jennifer said, "My dad has been a Scientologist for 20 years. It's weird people want to paint it in a negative way. I, myself, am Catholic. But it's just sad that people would look at it [Scientology] in that way."
