Police Confirm Paris' Shortened Sentence
A Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman has confirmed reports that Paris Hilton will only serve about 23 days of her 45-day jail sentence. Steve Whitmore said Paris will be placed in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, Calif. The Simple Life star will be separated from the general inmate population.
"This was decided because of her high profile," Whitmore told Reuters. "She will do fine if she follows the rules." The special needs unit is reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, according to Whitmore.
Paris' mother, Kathy Hilton, released a statement via Barbara Walters on The View saying she hopes young people will learn from her daughter.
