Is Lindsay Committing Career Suicide?
Just days after Lindsay Lohan inked a deal to star in the new film Dare to Love Me, the 21-year-old party princess was arrested for DUI — and now her career might be in danger.
Though Lohan has secure bon insurance for her new role, which is mandatory to get funding for a film, her recent arrest may still affect the film.
"It's not uncommon to shut down production so that a actor can take time to recover from substance abuse," an insurance broker at Film Emporium in NYC tells Star. "But that's what the insurance is for. The big question is how much are producers willing to wager on a certain actor or actress."
Indeed, insurance can be costly for actors who are deemed high risk. "The one thing that is for certain is that her insurance would be a lot higher than other actors and that is up to the producers of the film to decide if she's worth the risk," adds the insurance broker. "The bottom line is that it's tougher to get insurance for someone who is in constantly in the media with the air of drugs around them, but it's not impossible."
Due to her arrest, Lohan has already had to cancel her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, scheduled for Tuesday, to promote her movie I Know Who Killed Me.
Lohan had also been attached to a film called Poor Things with Shirley MacLaine, but filming has been shelved after the production ran out of money. Lindsay's rep has denied that she had anything to do with Poor Things being shut down.
