MTV Joins Lauren Conrad's Fashion Line!

August 28, 2007

The Hills starlet Lauren Conrad, who plays herself on the hit MTV show, is looking to extend her 15 minutes of fame into an entirely new dimension. The 21-year-old babe has dazzled MTV so much that the prominent network is looking to partner up in her upcoming fashion line.

"This is really a unique situation for us," says Lisa Silfen, senior president of program enterprise at MTV to Women's Wear Daily. "It seems like a natural extension to us [to partner with Conrad]."

MTV refused to reveal exactly how much they are willing to invest in the Lauren Conrad Collection, but critics agree that this power play may be the beginning of something completely innovative!

"I really think reality [TV] is going to be the breeding ground for mega brands," said Maggie Dumais, a licensing agent for Creative Artists Agency.

Conrad's 10-piece collection will be available on shoplaurenconrad.com on Sept. 15, and will mostly be made up of youthful and flirty frocks.

"The clothes are pretty feminine," said Conrad of her designs. "They're very comfortable and easy to move in...The pieces are clean. I did that on purpose. I like to accessorize. You can buy a simple dress and accessorize."

In addition to her clothing line, Conrad is also unveiling clutches and hangbags produced by Los Angeles-based accessories brand Linea Pelle.

"I've always wanted a clothing line," says the young Laguna Beach alum who is a fashion student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising as well as an intern for Teen Vogue. "This is my first collection and I do really want to make a very good impression."
