Britney Spears Loses Custody of Kids!
Britney Spears has lost custody of her children, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. After a closed-door hearing, a Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday that Spears' ex, Kevin Federline, was to assume physical custody starting Wednesday at noon and "until further notice of the Court."
A reason was not given for the change in custody, but the decision was made after Federline's lawyer requested a meeting with the judge.
The judge's ruling says, "The court's prior order including the orders made on September 28, 2007 remain in full force and effect with the following modification: Respondent is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 12 PM until further order of the Court."
That means Brit must adhere to a previous court order for drug testing and attend parenting classes. Another court date has been set for Wednesday, Oct. 3.
The ruling comes after Spears was charged with one count of hit and run and one count of driving without a valid driver's license stemming from an Aug. 6 incident. Despite facing up to one year in jail after being charged on Sept. 21, Spears has still been getting behind the wheel!
Star has learned that the pop star does have a Louisiana driver's license that doesn't expire until 2009. But now that she lives primarily in California, the road-challenged mom of two was required to obtain a California license within 30 days of moving there. There's good news though: Britney has recently applied for a California license, a DMV rep tells Star.
