Kanye & Amy Winehouse Score Grammy Nominations!

December 6, 2007

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, at least for some musicians it is. Grammy night is almost here, and the nominees were announced Thursday in Hollywood. Coming out on top is Kanye West, who received eight nominations. Amy Winehouse didn't trail too far behind, with six nods for her soulful music.

West and Winehouse will go head to head for album of the year for their CDs Graduation and Back to Black, respectively. Both West and Winehouse have had a triumphant year in music while battling personal problems. West beat 50 Cent off the charts with Graduation, which was the best-selling debut of the year with nearly one million copies sold, but his mother died suddenly in November at age 58 after plastic surgery. Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse cancelled her remaining tour dates this year, as a result of continuous problems involving her husband and the law.

Other top nominees included the Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Paul McCartney, T-Pain and Timbaland.
