Matthew McConaughey To Be A Father

January 16, 2008

Matthew McConaughey, 38, has more reason than ever to Just Keep Livin’ — his famous catchphrase.

On Jan. 15 the actor announced on his Web site that his girlfriend of one year, model Camila Alves, was pregnant with his first child.

“My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together … its 3 months growin’ in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far,” Matthew wrote.

Matthew met Camila just months after he broke up with his Sahara costar Penelope Cruz in June 2006.

“Camila is really good for Matthew because she is not trying to compete with his career, she just goes with the flow of his life and he truly appreciates that,” says a pal of Matthew’s.

“She makes life a lot easier for him. There is no drama.”

Matthew told the February 2008 issue of Playboy that the best way for a girl to lose his attention is to “change me.”

He told the magazine, "I work hard to be who I am. I ain’t perfect, but I’m a good man. I don’t have crumbs. I don’t owe anyone a dollar. I haven’t burned bridges.”

He also said he was “no womanizer” and “not a player.”

The source also adds that Matthew and Camila had been trying “for months” to get pregnant and it’s the primary reason Matthew decided to leave his tiny trailer in Malibu for a large home nearby.

“Camila said that she would not start a family in that dirty little trailer,” says the pal.

“Matthew said, ‘fair enough,’ and bought a beautiful house! He is totally non-materialistic but he does get that Camila wanted more of a homey environment. He also is really into her and just wants her to be happy.”

No word yet on the gender of the child.
