Sean Young Enters Rehab

January 29, 2008

There is nothing like a drunk outburst to land a celebrity a one-way ticket to rehab. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective's Sean Young checked into an alcohol treatment program on Monday.

"Young voluntarily admitted herself yesterday to a rehabilitation center for treatment related to alcoholism," Insignia PR said in a statement Tuesday. "It is understood that Young has struggled against the disease for many years."

Young's struggles became apparent when she heckled director Julian Schnabel, a nominee for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, at the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday. Her drunken chatter ended with her being booted out of the ceremony.

The trouble began when Schnabel, 48, took the stage at the Hyatt Regency in Century City to talk briefly before the Director's prize was handed out, a privilege accorded all of the nominees.

Young reportedly shouted, "Hurry up with the speech." To which an irritated Schnabel snapped back, "Have another cocktail, sweetheart, or would you rather finish my speech for me?" The argument continued until Young was escorted out of the building by security.
