Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi Are Getting Hitched
A week after throwing a 50th birthday party, Ellen DeGeneres has another big event to plan — her wedding!
The talk show host plans to marry longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi. Ellen made the announcement to her talk show audience shortly after the the California's Supreme Court ruled people have a right to marry the partner of their choosing and the previous ban on gay marriage was ruled unconstitutional.
The Ellen episode is scheduled to air Friday.
Ellen and Portia, who starred in Ally McBeal and Arrested Development, began dating in 2004.
Just last week, Ellen told Star that Portia is "a great partner. And I mean that in every area. She is fun to hang out with, fun to talk to, fun to travel with. We're going to Europe this summer for a few weeks. It's our first time there together, and we're very excited."
Back in 1999, Ellen and then-partner Anne Heche announced plans to have a civil union if such became legal in Vermont. However, they split shortly after and Anne married her now ex-husband Coley Laffoon with whom she's bitterly divorcing.
