Estelle Getty Dies at 84
The Golden Girls star Estelle Getty passed away Tuesday after a battle with advanced dementia. The actress, known for her diminutive stature yet substantial sense of humor, was 84.
"She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents," her son said in a statement. "She was one of the most talented comedic actresses who ever lived."
Estelle was nominated for seven Emmy awards for her work on The Golden Girls and won one for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1988.

I love all the Golden Girls . Sophia was so funny and yet the wise mother of all the girls . I have the whole DVD collection. My favorite episode of all is in Season 5 " Not another Monday " where Sophia talks her friend out of suicide . So touching !!

I love estelle..One of my favs was when dorothy called her a sicilian gecko..She just had the best timing and any time i was down i could watch her and smile. She will be missed.
