Britney Spears' Dad Stays In Control — For Now

Britney Spears won't have the freedom she wants for at least another three months.

A Los Angeles court has extended her dad Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter until Dec. 31.

"Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the temporary conservatorship," Commissioner Reva Goetz told Los Angeles Superior Court at a hearing earlier today.

But Goetz also said that she would be willing to terminate the conservatorship at an earlier date if certain unspecified conditions were met. That could happen at the next status hearing, which is scheduled for Oct. 28.

Although neither Britney nor Jamie attended Thursday's hearing, the pop star's brother Bryan Spears was present. Bryan did not respond when asked how Britney felt about the conservatorship.

Meanwhile, Britney's temporary restraining order against one-time hanger-on Sam Lufti expired today, and on her dad's advice she is not extending it.

Mr. Spears and Mr. Lufti have reached a private agreement and no hearing or order is necessary at this time," Spears family lawyer spokesman Jeffrey D. Wexler tells Star. Wexler would not discuss the details of the agreement.

Do you think this decision is good for Britney's well-being? Or do you think she should be able to live on her own terms once again? Talk back.

I think Brit is a terriffic young lady and she is a great mother.Just cause she's famous;doesn't mean that she would make different mistakes as all the other mother's out there. So back off ppl. She's only human and she has come a long way since her father & mother are back around her.Brit keep up the good work and let these HATERS eat their words! You have 2 beautiful boys.Just live for you & them and forget the rest.I think she would do fine on her own now;and dad could just check in on her from time to time. Can't wait to hear your new songs your coming out with. You rock!Love you Brit.
God Bless!

Honestly, this decision is good 4 her well-being and it should continue as long as it can and tests 4 her should be made every now and then to see if she's ready to live on her own terms. She really needs it after swrewing up most of her life. She might not realise it but it's 4 her and nobody is tryin to do anything bad to her.

Seeing what an excellent job Britney's father has done with her, I say that he should continue as the conservatorship. Look how far Britney has come since her Dad has taken over. All the hanger oners are gone, and Britney finally is returning to normal. As long as her Dad is in charge, the chance of Britney having a relapse is slim to none and no one will be allowed to take advantage of her as long as her Dad is around.

I day Keep Up The Good Work Dad. Britney needs you. Have it not been for you, Britney could be dead the way she was living her life.
